I, like so many others, realized long ago that ‘resolutions’ don’t work. We always start out the year with the best of intentions, but somehow they seem to get less and less important to us as the new year wears on. We begin feeling ashamed and/or guilty for not being able to stick to our goal. To this I say, “HOGWASH!”
Although I need a general direction for my path, it is much more constructive for me to follow it one day, one hour, one minute, ONE STEP at a time. There is a reason all of the 12 step programs work. They don’t focus on the overwhelming entire trip. They take it one day at a time. If I slip up, well, the next minute is just around the corner, so I can start again.
Making mistakes is human. It is how we learn and grow to be the people we want to become. You do need to learn from each moment and add that to the enjoyment of the next.
So my challenge to you this New Year, is to focus on NOW. What will make you better NOW. What can you learn NOW. If you keep filling the NOW moments, you won’t have to worry about what’s ahead. It just IS.
The joy is in the journey!
Light and Love in each of your steps forward…
Joannie ♥
